Artwork for the upcoming game, "Sanitarium" published by Asmadi Games.
[link]Process started with a pencil sketch, then scanned into Photoshop. Using a couple of Levels adjustment layers, I tweaked the paper background back to 50% and erased parts of the layers to create a tonal painting effect. Overlayed a monotone color layer and finished off with several photo textures taken myself from various decaying household items. The light effect was achieved by lining up a seam in the photo of a rusty shed that was used for the texture layer.
The tonal painting was really effective for giving the impression of light. It's the subtle reflection on the walls that does it.
